"....It was the morning of April 16th, 1961.Four hundred children from age 5 to 12 have just finished performing on the stage of Tokyo’s Bunkyo Hall.
The maestro cellist Pablo Casal’s was greatly moved by what he has just heard. His voice was shaking with emotions when he gave his speech:
“Ladies and gentlemen… what we are contemplating has much more importance than it seems… What impressed me the most… is the desire of a better world….To train children to music... To make them understand that music is not only sound to have to dance or to have a small pleasure, but such a high thing in life that perhaps it is the music that will save the world”. (From "Nurtured by Love" by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki). |
